Appeals, scholarships, bursaries and funds
Full details of all available trusts and scholarships can be found on our Trusts and Scholarships page.
Our current priorities include:
- The Gerald Collier Scholarship was established in 1999 by former students of the College of the Venerable Bede in memory of Gerald Collier (who was Principal of the College from 1958 to 1975). With the re-launch of the fund in 2011-12, it was decided that monies would be used to support students on postgraduate degrees in the School of Education, which is mainly based in part of the former Bede College.

- The Caedmon Ceolfrid Trust provides financial support to members of the College in various ways. Amongst other things, the Trust supports students in certain extra-curricular activities and postgraduate research, and has historically funded the marquee at College Day. It also usually provides up to eight annual College Choral Scholarships. If you would like further details of how to make a donation or are a potential applicant, please contact Julie Blake, Principal’s Secretary, on 0191 33 48531 or julie.blake@durham.ac.uk.
- The Esther Dingley Fund
We are delighted to have launched a fund in memory of our alumna Esther Dingley who lost her life whilst doing what she loved, trekking in the Pyrenees. Esther embraced travel as a means of keeping well, engaging with the wider world and supporting local communities through charitable and volunteer work. This fund enables up to two students each year to follow in her footsteps and discover the world.
Your support will contribute to Esther's legacy and the development of our students now and into the future.
