The event is an opportunity for colleagues from across the University, including Deputy Deans (Research), Directors of Research, Heads of Department, staff from Estates and Facilities, Library and Collections, to hear about the skills, state of the art equipment and latest digital work carried out in the Department of Archaeology.

The event is an opportunity for colleagues from across the University, including Deputy Deans (Research), Directors of Research, Heads of Department, staff from Estates and Facilities, Library and Collections, to hear about the skills, state of the art equipment and latest digital work carried out in the Department of Archaeology. This includes techniques used for 3D modelling of landscapes, buildings and other structures, including metrology-grade precision scanning and modelling of artefacts (including automated workflows), efficient, high-quality digitization of documents, or imaging of surface topography and composition of microscopic samples (SEM) at incredibly high resolutions (better than 1 nanometer).
The event will illustrate the potential of Archaeology´s digital expertise to contribute to future research and commercial work conducted within the university and provide an opportunity to explore the potential for research collaborations with potential partners from across Durham and beyond. Presentations will be focused on methods and applications and there will be opportunities for Q&As (see programme below) and networking among participants during the Coffee & cake break and during demonstrations.
