Ehmke & Students

This project - partially funded by the Royal Society involved 35 students from four schools in County Durham, St John's Bishop Auckland, Framwellgate School, Durham School and St. Leonards.

The aim of the project was to design, synthesize and test a new series of Tuberculosis booster drugs, compounds that increase the efficacy of existing and cheap Tuberculosis drugs. The project was led by Prof. Patrick Steel and Prof. Ehmke Pohl from The Department of Chemistry and involved Prof. Paul Denny from The Department of Biosciences and Dr. Alistair Brown from Newcastle University.
