MSc in Advanced Computer Science, MSc in Advanced Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence)

Length: 1-year

The ideal programmes for students who are keen to develop advanced understanding and skills in various areas of computer science theory and practice, including cutting-edge topics such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, and foundational topics such as algorithms and networks. We expect you to have a background in Computer Science or closely related field. We prepare students to be professionals with expertise in advanced areas of computer science, to be more competitive in the job market, to better identify their research interests and to prepare them in pursuit of further study by offering specialisation in AI as well as other topics leading to the ‘general’ specialisation.

MSc in Scientific Computing and Data Analysis (MISCADA)

Length: 1-year

The ideal programme for students with an interest in computational physics and engineering who have an undergraduate degree in a science subject with a strong quantitative element, including Computer Scientists and Mathematicians. We prepare students for many future roles: the next generation of PhD students, making a difference in Research and Development in business and industry, and working and researching at the cutting-edge of data analysis and high performance scientific computing.

This degree is jointly organised by the Department of Computer Science with specialisations offered in collaboration with the Department of Mathematical Sciences, the Department of Physics and the Department of Earth Sciences.

MSc in Business Analytics

Length: 1-year

The ideal programme for students who are looking to gain expertise in working with data and understanding and predicting the needs of businesses and their customers using techniques such as machine learning. We prepare students for many future roles in business and industry where their analytical skills will be in high demand. We expect you to have a background in either Computer Science or Business.

This degree is jointly organised with Durham University Business School.

Master of Data Science

Length: 1-year

The ideal programme for students whose background might be in a subject that is not highly quantitative and are looking to gain expertise in the core principles of data science. The course focuses on problem solving that introduces a full range of methodologies from introductory techniques to advanced modern methods such as deep learning. We prepare students for many future roles in one of the fastest growing career areas.
