Studying Law at Durham gave me a real competitive advantage when applying for training contracts. The practical elements of the Law School’s Employability Course helped lay the foundations for a successful application cycle. Beyond academics, the wide range of student-run societies and extracurricular opportunities allowed me to develop valuable transferable skills.

Getting involved in both college and university-wide societies gave me the chance to learn more about commercial law while also building experiences beyond my degree. Those opportunities strengthened my CV, but more importantly, they were things I genuinely cared about and am proud to have been part of.

I’m now heading to Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer to begin my training contract.

For anyone considering studying Law at Durham, my advice is simple: don’t let your Law degree consume you! Make time for activities outside your studies that genuinely interest you. Those experiences will not only make university more enjoyable, but they’ll also help you grow personally and professionally.
