The 3-Minute Thesis Competition allowed Jessica, a PhD student in French, to present her thesis project in front of a non-specialist audience through a creative approach that stood out from typical academic conference papers.
The competition not only provided her with the opportunity to consider the larger impact of her research in a modern context, but it also gave her the chance to find out about other exceptional research projects that are happening across the University during a time where normal access to research communities has been difficult. Jessica walked away not just with the first prize, but also with the People's Choice Award which was voted for by students and staff. Jessica said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and I look forward to the regional finals!”
