From Monday 31st January, join professionals from across the Film & TV industry talking about their roles and careers during this week of virtual events hosted by the British Film Institute. Speakers from some of biggest names in the industry, such as Netflix and Curzon, will be presenting exclusively to Durham students and giving insights into their careers.

This is a series of online careers focused workshops addressing the film and media industries, helping students to explore future career options. Aimed at all students, but especially those interested in working in the creative industries with an emphasis on film and television. A deep dive into a range of creative and industry roles: what are these roles? who are these people? what do their job titles really mean? What do they do on a day to day basis? How do you get into a specific field? Plus a chance to ask any questions that might help you find the right career path after graduation.

Samm Haillay founded Third with Duane Hopkins in 2001. He produced Hopkins’ multi-award winning short films and feature debut Better Things, which premiered to critical acclaim at International Critics Week, Cannes in 2008. Samm is now developing both feature and TV drama with Hopkins as well as producing all of Hopkins’ film and galley work, Samm also produces for a number of other amazing filmmakers.*

Roxy McKenna is one of two BFI NETWORK Talent Executives working across the North of England to fund and develop early career writers, directors and producers. Based in Newcastle, Roxy joined Film Hub North after working as a freelance producer for film and immersive cinema. Prior to that Roxy worked for 12 years across commissioning, talent and audience development at screen agency Northern Film Media.***
