Yes, you can take this combination through the Liberal Arts degree.
Can I study History and a modern language?
Yes, the Modern European Languages & History degree is for you.
What about other combinations?
The Liberal Arts degree allows you to choose up to four subjects, including Philosophy, Politics and History. You can also take Combined Honours in Social Sciences if you want to combine a language with subjects including Economics, Geography and Politics.
From lectures on eighteenth-century French literature to discussions on Latin American politics, the variety of topics available to study in Modern Languages and Cultures is endless, which is something I love about doing this degree here at Durham. Studying languages has expanded my knowledge on topics I never thought would interest me

BA Modern Languages and Cultures, over four years, including a year abroad. Students can study up to three languages in their first year, before specializing in one or two.
