International students
The Department of Music is keen to attract the very best students from all across the world. We work closely with Colleges and Support Services to ensure that all of our students are supported throughout the admissions process and receive a warm welcome upon their arrival in Durham. We understand the challenges international students face when living and studying overseas for the first time and our staff are dedicated to ensuring students settle in quickly and start thriving in our friendly and vibrant community.
Applications from international students for postgraduate study need to be made through the University’s online postgraduate admissions application system. You are able to attach a research proposal, copies of transcripts from previous study and evidence of your English Proficiency on this system. Once we receive your application we will contact you and keep you informed with the progress of your application. Our entry requirements, including English Language proficiency, for postgraduate study can be found here.
The University’s International Office website also provides information which may be helpful to you. Durham University also has representatives in many countries so students can receive help with the application process, visas & immigration, and booking travel. To find out if we have a representative where you are, please visit the country-specific webpage.
We are happy to consider applicants with international qualifications but students are advised that we always need to ensure that they meet our prerequisite requirements including English language proficiency. Information on qualification equivalences can be found on the International Office website.
