DU Science 100 words as a logo

This year we’re celebrating 100 years of Science at Durham University! The Dawson Building, on the Lower Mountjoy site, first opened its doors in 1924 as the home of the new Department of Science, consisting of Botany, Chemistry, Geology and Physics.

To celebrate a century of incredible research, teaching and engagement, we will be holding a series of events throughout the year and we’d love you to be part of it as we deliver DU Science 100. We'll also be sharing stories from colleagues, alumni, partners, and students.

Keep an eye out throughout the year as we plan a range of events for our local communities and get involved with our celebrations.
