Durham rises in Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025

We are delighted to announce that Durham University has secured the 5th position in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025, rising two places from last year. 

This achievement reaffirms Durham's standing as one of the leading universities in the United Kingdom and is a testament to the dedication of our students, faculty, and staff who contribute to our ongoing success. 

Additionally, we have earned the title of the top university in the North, and were also shortlisted for "University of the Year" and a runner-up in "University of the Year for Graduate Employment".

The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide assesses institutions based on a comprehensive set of eight indicators, encompassing student satisfaction with teaching quality and their overall student experience, research excellence, graduate prospects, the entrance qualifications of our new students, degree attainment, student-to-staff ratios, and degree completion rates.

We're pleased to share these excellent results, which consistently place us among the top 10 universities in the UK according to three prestigious league tables: the Complete University Guide, the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, and now the Guardian University Guide.

In particular, we're proud to highlight that eight of our subjects have achieved remarkable rankings within the UK's top 5. These subjects include Accounting and Finance, Anthropology and Archaeology, Biology, Classics and Ancient History, Criminology, Economics, English, History, Marketing, Physics, Politics and Theology and Religion. Additionally, an impressive fifteen other subjects have secured positions in the UK's top 10, making this performance in the league table a significant achievement for Durham University.

The Guardian University Guide evaluates institutions by subject, taking into account factors such as student satisfaction, faculty resources, expenditure, and career prospects. These results reflect our commitment to providing an exceptional academic experience for all our students.
