We’ve joined the North-East Institute of Technology (NEIoT) to strengthen advanced technical training across the region and close the skills gap in key sectors.
The Institute supports the development of practical higher-level skills in areas such as engineering, construction, digital technology and AI.
Our involvement supports efforts to widen access to these skills and deliver the highly trained employees that businesses across North East England need.
Becoming part of the NEIoT allows us to share our research strengths, specialist knowledge and long-standing links with industry.
By working closely with the Institute’s existing colleges and training providers, we will help to create clearer pathways into high value technical careers.
This collaboration also ensures that people of all ages can access the skills needed to succeed in fast changing sectors.
The NEIoT acts as a bridge between education and industry, helping employers engage with the region’s talent pipeline through a simple and coordinated approach.
Partners work together to avoid duplication and ensure that the curriculum reflects real industry needs.
This joined-up system makes it easier for businesses to access the advanced technical training required for future growth.
Our Vice-Chancellor Professor Karen O’Brien said: “It is vital that education and industry partners work together to strengthen higher technical skills across our region, and the North East Institute of Technology partnership is leading the way in this effort.
“By supporting clearer pathways into future-focused careers, this collaboration will help more people in North East England develop the skills needed to drive innovation, opportunity and economic growth.”
