Our Project So Far

During the first stage of the project, technical staff worked with regional colleges to better understand the opportunities and barriers facing young people considering technical careers in environmental science.

Young people face barriers to accessing a technical career in environmental science. We found that limited awareness of environmental science careers among young people, anxiety among industry partners about undertaking T Level placements, and a lack of diverse career pathways from further education into environmental science were among the barriers young people currently face.
