Abstract
How does a single idea spark a global movement and influence public policy? In this seminar, Giuliana Furci will share the journey from founding the Fungi Foundation—the world’s first NGO dedicated exclusively to fungal conservation—to successfully integrating fungi into Chile's highest environmental laws. Thanks to these efforts, Chile now mandates that any environmental impact assessment must include a study on the effects on local fungi.
This seminar will also explore the broader implications of delimiting the term "funga" and the creation of the Fauna, Flora, Funga Initiative in order to protect fungi at the same level as plants and animals. This global movement is gaining momentum, striving to include fungal conservation within the world's most significant legal frameworks.
Learn how these groundbreaking initiatives are reshaping conservation efforts and paving the way for fungi to be recognized as a vital part of our planet's biodiversity.
