Arts and Culture Funding

This year, 2024/25, the IAS is offering to support a small number of film showings. We aim to support film screenings that are intended for a broad audience from across Durham’s research community.

Funds (up to a maximum of £150) can be used for any purpose that supports the screening of the film (film costs, costs for a speaker alongside the film, costs to support a reception or workshop following the screening, etc). They are not expected to cover the full costs of the activity, and are intended as a form of support alongside other internal or external support, indicating the significance of the film to Durham’s research community.

Applications should be made to ias.manager@durham.ac.uk at least 2 months ahead of the event. Applications should be no longer than ½ side of A4 and should explain:

  • Details of the film
  • Its relevance to research at Durham
  • Who the audience is likely to be (and how this reaches across disciplines)
  • Planned activities
  • Other sources of funding to support the event

If approved, funds will be transferred only once the other sources of funding have been confirmed.
