THE JANET ERSKINE STUART SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Awards: One to three years, subject to satisfactory academic progress

The endowment for the Janet Erskine Stuart Scholarship Fund was established with a generous donation from the Society of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ). Awards are made from the endowment on a competitive basis to eligible full-time or part-time postgraduate students in Catholic Theology or Catholic Studies.

Applications are invited from students on Durham-based programmes who can participate regularly, in person, in the CCS academic programme, and students on eligible Distance Learning programmes.

Awards may provide full or partial support towards tuition fees at the UK/Home rate.

The fund is intended primarily to support teachers and chaplains, and particular consideration will be given to applications from teachers and chaplains in the UK. Applications are especially invited from:

  • Teachers of Religious Education wishing to undertake an MA to strengthen their subject knowledge; and
  • Teachers of other subjects wishing to retrain to teach Religious Education.

Awards will take account of academic excellence and potential alongside demonstrated financial need.

For details of how to apply, please see the Application Process.
