Just Transitions to a Net Zero World
Our vision is to lead in enabling just transitions and to harness novel interdisciplinary research and global partnerships. Our delivery plan outlines how we are achieving our goals in order to position Durham at the forefront of a cutting-edge twinning of green and digital transitions.
Durham University’s Strategic Research Fund (SRF) is supporting the JusTN0W initiative at CSDLP, which aims to collaborate with government partners, NGOs, and private stakeholders to tackle the UN SDGs holistically through the development of a research programme and the provision of new educational resources.
JusTN0W is a substantial investment in our research capability, community, and infrastructure at the CSDLP. The initiative already attracted new academic and professional services staff to Durham University and offered new Phd studentships. This will further expand our capacities for interdisciplinary research and international collaborations to address the global challenges, to support just transitions, and to promote sustainable development.
The JusTN0W Team at the Centre for Sustainable Development Law and Policy, Durham University, collaborated with the European Centre for Just Transition Research and Impact-Driven Transfer at Martin Luther University, Germany, to host the JusTN0W Second International Conference on the 9th and 10th of October 2025.
JusTN0W acknowledges the urgent need for just transitions to combat climate change effectively. Read more in our executive summary.
