Dr Katalin Sulyok has been selected as Lead Author in Working Group 3 of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) during the IPCC's 7th Assessment Cycle running until 2029.

Colleagues from the JusTN0W team at Durham Centre for Sustainable Development Law and Policy secured funding from the British Academy under Evidence-informed Policymaking Grants 2025 Awards, for a timely and significant research project: ELEVATE-ProClima (Enhance and Leverage the Architecture on Evidence for Proteção Climática (Climate Protection)). The project is in collaboration with our valued Brazilian partners from the University of São Paulo, the State University of Rio de Janeiro.

Professor Petra Minnerop attended the 119th annual meeting of the American Society of International Law (ASIL) in Washington D.C, as a member of the ASIL's Task Force on Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) and Climate Change. The annual meeting officially launched the task force that brings together leading experts to analyse the substantive and procedural issues surrounding climate-related investment disputes.

This year at COP29, Durham Univeristy's application to host an official UNFCCC Side Event was approved by the UNFCCC Secretariat. The event was live streamed, from the Baku, Azerbaijan COP29 venue, at UNFCCC official channels and was viewed by our staff and students at Durham University.
