Grant success – Primer on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (PoDRI)

[01/26] Project lead Dr Ellen Robson (PDRA, IHRR), and co-leads, Prof Bruce Malamud (Director, IHRR), and Dr Ashutosh Kumar (IIT Mandi) have been awarded a US$100k grant by the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) to develop a Primer on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (PoDRI).

[11/25] PARIS, France Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne welcomed Professor Bruce D. Malamud, Director of Durham University’s Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR), for a two-day visit from 27–28 November 2025. The meetings offered an important opportunity to explore avenues for deeper academic and research cooperation between the two institutions.

New Co-Directors at the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience

[11/25] The Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) is pleased to announce the appointment of four new Co-Directors for three year terms, who joined the Institute’s leadership team in August / September 2025. Together, they bring a wealth of interdisciplinary expertise spanning forecasting and decision sciences, environmental change, quantitative modelling, and the philosophy of science—further strengthening the IHRR’s mission.
