Kostas Nikolopoulos Book Launch IHRR

[12/25] The Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience (IHRR) is pleased to celebrate the successful launch of Forecasting, Planning and Strategy in a Turbulent Era, marking the publication of a new book co-edited by IHRR Co-Director Professor Kostas Nikolopoulos. The launch event was hosted by Durham University Business School on Monday, 15 December at 5:00pm in Room WB1001.

The book, edited by Dr Vasileios Bougioukos, Professor Kostas Nikolopoulos, and Professor Christos Tsinopoulos, brings together leading scholars and practitioners to explore how forecasting, planning, and strategic decision-making can remain resilient and effective amid global uncertainty. Forecasting, Planning and Strategy in a Turbulent Era examines how organisations can navigate turbulence and complexity through robust analytical and strategic approaches.

The event featured a panel discussion chaired by Professor Lucian J. Hudson, Executive Director of Communications & External Relations at Durham University. The panel included:

  • Professor Kostas Nikolopoulos (Durham University, UK)
  • Dr Yuxin Li (School of Economics and Finance, Shanghai International Studies University, China)
  • Dr Vasileios Bougioukos (Richmond American University London & The University of Notre Dame London, UK)
  • Dr Canan Neşe Kınıkoğlu (İstanbul Medeniyet University, Türkiye)

The discussion explored the key themes of the book, offering insights into forecasting and strategic decision-making in turbulent times, before opening the floor to questions and discussion with the audience.

The evening was a great success, attracting a strong audience from across the University and beyond. The lively discussion, diverse international perspectives, and engaged audience contributed to a stimulating and reflective event, highlighting the relevance and timeliness of the book’s themes and reinforcing the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue on forecasting, planning, and strategy in an era of uncertainty.
