The Narrative and Cognition Lab in the Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities invites you to an online and in-person event at the Institute for Medical Humanities, Durham University, held over 20th and 21st March.

In two hybrid interviews with Dr Marco Bernini, photographer and visual artist Rachele Maistrello will talk and look for interdisciplinary feedback on her entire corpus. In Part 1 (March 20, 1-2.30pm) we will cover her work from the beginning to the diamond series. In Part 2, (March 21, 5-6.30pm) we will focus exclusively on the three ‘diamonds’. Videos of the diamond series will be shared before the events. You can already familiarise yourself with Rachele’s work at her rich website rachelestudio.com.

About Rachele Maistrello

Rachele has been working for more than a decade on the indeterminate boundaries between imagination and reality in a vast series of photographic projects. More recently, Rachele has moved into integrating photography with videomaking and artistic deceptions (or perceptions) via the use of scientific archives in a series of multisensory ‘diamond projects’ (Blue Diamonds, Green Diamonds, Black Diamonds, and two more in the making).

Zoom details will be circulated closer to the event.

This hybrid event is hosted by the Narrative and Cognition Lab in the Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities. The event is part of Rachele Maistrello’s Research Project ‘The Diamond Project. Part III’. Granted by the Italian Council Program (2024).
