PhD Project

My research examines Natalie Haynes' novels as a case study within the recent trend of 'Greek myth feminist retellings' in the context of discourses surrounding the narrative choices within these books and the intervention their authors make into the characters they adapt.

Through the lenses of classical reception, feminism, narratology, and literary genre, I aim to demonstrate the significance of these novel retellings to the twenty-first century literary landscape and the place that Haynes' novels specifically occupy in conversations surrounding the Classics.
