Research interests

  • - Regenerative biology, the genetic, molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying tissue regeneration.
  • - Tissue engineering and stem cell biology, including how cellular behaviour can be harnessed to promote tissue repair and regeneration, 3D cell culture and organoid systems.
  • - Biomaterials and regenerative technologies, with a particular interest in spider silk and its applications in tissue repair.
  • - Regenerative medicine, and the translation of fundamental discoveries in regeneration into a range of therapeutic applications.
  • - The relationship between regeneration and development, including comparisons of the cellular and molecular processes that regulate tissue formation, growth and repair.
  • - Developmental biology, particularly cell differentiation, proliferation, organisation and tissue patterning.
  • - Assisted reproductive technologies and embryology, with an interest in the cellular and developmental biology underlying fertility and early embryonic development.
