Biography

My research focuses on cardiotoxicity and investigating to see if we can identify cardiotoxicity in recovered breast cancer patients by using carotid ultrasound. Carotid ultrasound measurements include the intima-media thickness (IMT) of the common carotid artery (CCA), peak systolic velocity (PSV) and end diastolic velocity (EDV) of the CCA. As well as measuring the diameter of the CCA in transverse and longitudinal views. I am comparing young healthy females (18-30 years), older healthy females (50 years and above) and recovered breast cancer survivors (any age) treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or hormonal treatment alone or in combination.

I have taught seminars on the 1st year undergraduate physical activity, diet and health module in the sport and exercise science department. I have completed a carotid ultrasound course qualification and ECG course qualification to help support my research. I have also done work experience in various cardiac wards in my local hospitals.

My supervisor is Dr Katie Di-sebastiano and Dr Toni Williams.
