Dr. Chien-Yi Chang is an Assistant Professor of Law and an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Durham University. She serves as the Academic Lead for Communications & Engagement at the Center for Sustainable Development Law and Policy at Durham University, and is affliated with the Stanford School of Medicine.

Her research bridges law and technology, combining doctrinal analysis, empirical study, and computational experimentation to explore the legal, social, and technical dimensions of artificial intelligence (AI) and biomedical research. Dr. Chang has secured over $600,000 USD (~£450,000 GBP) in competitive research funding to support her interdisciplinary research. Her work has been published in both leading law journals and top AI conferences, demonstrating her ability to contribute to both legal scholarship and technical research communities. She holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford, a J.D. from CUHK, and a B.S. in Physics from Caltech.
