Biography
I completed a BA in History and MA in Digital Humanities at Lancaster University with a focus on ancient history.
I began my PhD in September 2026. My PhD is funded by Durham’s Transformative Humanities hub, and it is supervised across the Department of Classics & Ancient History and the Department of Archaeology. My supervisors are Dr Michael Loy, Dr Chiara Palladino, and Professor Dan Lawrence.
I also work in commercial archaeology in geomatics and archaeological survey.
PhD Project
My research uses computational techniques from across geographic information systems (GIS) and network science to investigate connectivity (via the framework of interstate relations) in late fifth century BCE Greece. It uses a ‘big data’, digital humanities approach to explore how networks derived from contemporary literary evidence (Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War) and archaeological data (coinage datasets) can shed light on the nature, form, function, and extent of political alliances and economic partnerships between Greek, and non-Greek, states during the age of the Athenian Empire c.450-400 BCE.
Research interests
- Classical Greece
- Greek archaeology
- Digital Humanities (especially GIS & network analysis)
- Classical historiography (especially Thucydides)
