Post Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Engineering

Biography

Dr Ebrahim Nadimi is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Engineering at Durham University, with nearly eight years of experience in combustion research. His work focuses on low-carbon propulsion systems, alternative fuels, combustion, sustainable energy systems, CFD, and numerical modelling, with particular emphasis on decarbonising maritime and heavy-duty transport. He works within the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub and MariNH3, contributing to research on ammonia-fuelled propulsion systems, clean maritime technologies and future fuel pathways.

He is the PI of the NNZA project entitled Alternative Fuel Injectors for Decarbonising Powertrains in Heavy Transport, where he leads research on alternative-fuel spray and combustion behaviour using optical diagnostics.

Before joining Durham University, he worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, where he led experiments and numerical modelling for alternative-fuel combustion research. He completed his PhD in Poland with distinction, undertaking experimental and numerical investigations of ammonia-fuelled engines as part of the European joint Norway–Poland ACTIVATE project. His work contributed to the development of ammonia-fuelled agricultural vehicle.
