Staff profile

I am an Associate Professor in Economic Geology at the Department of Earth Sciences, Durham University, UK. I completed my PhDs in Economic Geology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China and in Applied Mineralogy and Sedimentology at Aarhus University, Denmark. Following my doctoral studies, I advanced my research career as a Research Associate at Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin in Ireland, and as an Assistant Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the Netherlands, gaining extensive experience in mineral system analysis associated with sedimentary- and magmatic-hydrothermal processes.My research bridges fundamental geoscience with sustainable resource management, focusing on mineral deposit formation, critical raw materials, and innovative approaches to unconventional resources such as mine waste and deep-sea resources. My work actively integrates academic research with industry and government collaborations, contributing to resilient and responsible mineral supply.
