Maryaa Najafi – PhD Researcher in Civil Engineering

Maryaa Najafi is a PhD researcher in Civil Engineering at Durham University, specialising in building materials and design. She holds an MSc in Architectural Technology, with a specialisation in Bionic Architecture, and has professional experience in architecture, computational design, and university teaching. Before beginning her doctoral research, she worked as a university lecturer in architecture, combining academic teaching with an interest in innovative and interdisciplinary design approaches. Her research interests include bio-inspired architecture, sustainable building materials, and the integration of computational design methods to develop innovative solutions for the built environment.
