Biography

Dr. Xinyan Zhao is a Teaching Fellow in Law at Durham Law School. He earned his Master's degree and PhD with distinction from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. As an expert in international trade law, Xinyan focuses particularly on the intersection of trade policies and sustainable development. His scholarly contributions include several publications in the field of international trade law, and one of his most recent research papers is set to be published in the Journal of World Trade in 2025. He has presented his work at prestigious international forums, such as the Biennial Global Conferences of the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL) in Milano (2021) and Bogotá (2023).

Before joining Durham, Xinyan was a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy at the University of Sussex, and he was also a visiting scholar at the University of Montreal in Canada.
