1961 Electrical Power Degree, lecturer came in and apologised, saying " the following presentation, lecture notes, is tedious but essential" He started with 2 or 3 lines and I said "the final result is". His response was to ask if I had already studied the topic and when I assured him "no" he asked me to show how I could declare my result. I went to the his board and used a solution route that was unique to me. Amazed he declared that he had delivered his lecture his way for many years and would it be ok with me if he used my method in future. Needless to say I approved and in subsequent lectures he often sought my approval. Some 60 years since that day I don't recall the topic or details but it was on transient decays in circuits and thereafter he always referred to me as the "transient king".

It did result in the study route to my degree and subsequent career was an outcome, but that is another story.
