Course overview
This module explores the theories and practice of leading and managing people in organisations today. Topics include leadership styles and preferences, motivating and developing teams, managing performance, and leading change effectively. This intensive course critically evaluates leadership and management theories and how they apply in practice. Participants will reflect on their own leadership approach and develop practical strategies for leading their teams.
On this course you will learn how to:

- Understand the concepts of leadership as they relate to organisations.
- Enhance leadership skills to review and lead change in organisations.
Programme lead
The course is led by Professor Olga Epitropaki, an academic at Durham University with extensive experience teaching leadership and management within executive education, professional programmes and university settings. Her teaching approach combines academic rigour with practical application, ensuring learning is directly relevant to managerial practice across a wide range of sectors and functions.
Venue and experience
The programme will be held at Durham University Business School’s state-of-the-art Waterside Building, offering modern teaching spaces and an inspiring learning environment. Lunch will be included across all days, allowing participants to focus fully on learning and networking.

Olga Epitropaki, Deputy Executive Dean (Research) at Durham University Business School
Olga Epitropaki is Chaired Professor of Management and Deputy Executive Dean (Research) at Durham University Business School. Prior to joining Durham University Business School, Olga was Professor of Organizational Behavior at ALBA Graduate Business School at the American College of Greece where she held the "Stavros Costopoulos" Chair in Human Resource Management and Development. She previously worked at Aston University and the Institute of Work Psychology at Sheffield University.
She has further worked for many years as a consultant and executive trainer for numerous companies such as AIG, AstraZeneca, Bancpost, Boehringer-Ingelheim, Boeing, EFG-Eurobank, Erste Bank, GlaxoSmithKline, Minerva, Interamerican, ING, National Power Corporation, Nissan, Novo Nordisk, Pepsico, Sanofi Aventis, Titan Group, Vodafone, Xerox and others.
