Eligibility

Applicants should have an outstanding academic record from a recognised and reputable institution and demonstrate strong performance and clear intent for the MBA through their application and admissions interview. Applicants will also be assessed against the relevant criteria for each scholarship.
Global, UK and Women in Leadership Scholarships
Applicants should demonstrate:
  • Significant leadership experience, including responsibility for people, teams, projects, organisations or initiatives.
  • Strong professional achievement, including career progression, performance and impact.
  • Strategic thinking and future potential, demonstrated through problem-solving, effective decision-making, entrepreneurial activity or significant projects and organisational change.
  • Potential to make a strong contribution to the MBA cohort through professional experience, diverse perspectives, community engagement or industry impact.
Global Opportunity Scholarship
Applicants should demonstrate:
  • Strong professional achievement and international career potential, including experience working across markets, cultures or multinational organisations.
  • The ability to bring diverse international perspectives to the MBA cohort.
  • Leadership experience and potential within their organisation, industry or community.
  • The potential to act as a positive ambassador for Durham in their home country and region.
Social Impact Scholarship
Applicants should demonstrate:
  • A commitment to creating positive social or environmental impact.
  • Experience in areas such as sustainability, ESG, social enterprise, the public sector, non-profit organisations or community leadership.
  • Relevant skills and experience in areas such as energy transition, climate finance and sustainable operations.
  • Clear plans to use the MBA to further positive change.
Across our MBA scholarships, we particularly welcome applications from professionals working in areas such as management consulting, financial services, technology and AI, data and analytics, healthcare and life sciences, and energy transition and sustainability.
Applicants must be self-funded to be eligible for these tuition fee discounts. Applicants receiving employer, government or other external funding, or another Durham University tuition fee discount, may not be eligible.

  2. Automatic scholarship consideration

    Applications open 1 October 2026

     

    No separate scholarship application is required.

     

    All Durham University Business School Full-Time MBA offer holders for October 2027 will be automatically considered for an award, regardless of whether their offer is conditional or unconditional.

     

    Only successful candidates will be notified by email within 10 working days of receiving their formal offer.

  3. Terms and Conditions

    Scholarships are not transferable or deferrable. They are valid only for use by the scholarship winner in the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded.

     

    Scholarship decisions are at the discretion of the School and all decisions are final. 

     

    There is no cash alternative if a place on the programme is not taken up.
