Policy Fellows

Bringing policy experience, external perspectives and practical insight into the life of the Business School.

Durham University Business School Policy Fellows are affiliated with the Policy Hub and contribute to the School's regional, national and international policy research, engagement, teaching and events. The fellowship is an adjunct role for external members of wider policy, business and civic communities who do not work permanently for the Business School. It may also include colleagues from elsewhere in Durham University who contribute to University policy activity.

The fellowship is designed to strengthen the School's position at the intersection of academic research and policymaking, supporting applied research and learning, public policy integration and global engagement across the School.

How Policy Fellows contribute

• Connect the School's research strengths with policy partners and help translate research into accessible policy outputs.
• Support academics to develop pathways to impact, including evaluation and case-study development.
• Share policy insight as guest speakers on School programmes and courses.
• Help shape policy-engagement activity, develop propositions and proposals, and facilitate connections with policymakers and professionals.
• Support collaboration with local, national and international partners.
• Engage alumni and connect their experience with relevant Policy Hub activity.
• Contribute to Policy Hub activities and events through their organisations and networks.
• Where appropriate, sponsor policy-relevant projects for Business School staff and students.

Recognition and commitment

Fellows receive Durham University Business School Policy Fellow status and invitations to Policy Hub activities and events. Appointments will normally be for three years and may be renewed. Fellows are expected to participate in relevant meetings and to engage with the Hub's activity, including its annual event.
