Congratulations and Welcome to New Undergraduate Students

A Welcome from the Principal

Congratulations on earning your place at Durham University and Trevelyan College! This is a remarkable achievement, and you should be incredibly proud of everything you have accomplished to reach this point.

Now, let me tell you about the extraordinary community you are about to join.

At Trevelyan, you'll become part of a vibrant, welcoming, and ambitious college family that encourages you to challenge yourself, embrace new opportunities, and make the most of every moment. Trevelyan (Trevs) College is a place where friendships flourish, talents are discovered, and confidence grows. Whether your passion lies in sports, the arts, volunteering, leadership, academic pursuits, or something entirely new, you'll find countless ways to get involved and make your mark.

We believe university is about so much more than earning a degree. It's about discovering who you are, developing skills that will last a lifetime, and creating memories you'll carry with you long after graduation. At Trevs, you'll be supported every step of the way as you explore new interests, pursue your ambitions, and achieve more than you ever thought possible.

I encourage you to throw yourself into college life, meet new people, seize opportunities, and embrace every experience that comes your way. The friendships you build, the challenges you overcome, and the successes you celebrate will become some of the most rewarding parts of your university journey. I am genuinely excited to see all that you will achieve. Most importantly, remember that you are not simply joining a college; you are becoming part of the Trevs family. Each of you brings unique perspectives, talents, and experiences that will enrich our community and help shape the future of Trevelyan.

I am delighted to welcome you to Trevelyan this September. When you arrive, you'll have plenty of opportunities to meet our staff and discover all that college life has to offer. In the meantime, I encourage you to explore our staff pages and get to know the people who are here to support you throughout your time with us. Starting university is an exciting adventure, but it's perfectly normal to feel a little nervous too. Please remember that we're here to help. If you have any questions, concerns, or simply want to talk something through, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Before you arrive, please take time to review our induction webpages carefully and complete any required forms as soon as possible. This will help ensure a smooth and stress-free start to your Trevs experience. Our Trevs Induction Checklist is a useful guide to keep track of everything you need to do before arrival, so be sure to save it and tick off each step along the way.

If you need any assistance, please contact us at admissions.trevelyan@durham.ac.uk or call 0191 334 7001.

Once again, welcome to Trevelyan College. We can't wait to meet you and begin this exciting journey together. Your Trevs story starts here!

To help you keep track of where you need to be, and what you need to do during your first busy days at university, in your College and your Department, we have created a day-by-day University Induction Planner. This should help you to plan your schedule, so you don't miss anything - from being issued with your Campus Card or meeting the staff in your Department, to trying out for a sports team or joining a student society.
