Spring has sprung here in Sheraton Park, and we are thrilled to mark the start of term with several exciting announcements.
We would like to offer a hearty congratulations to our College community and GCP Volunteering, as Ustinov College has been nominated for several volunteering awards—including College of the Year. It is wonderful to see these contributions to our community recognised.
We are also delighted to announce the arrival of our new Steinway piano as part of the University’s Steinway Project, which seeks to make music accessible to all students. The Steinway is available for any student to play, and we hope many generations of Ustinovians will benefit from this project.
We also had the privilege of welcoming Professor Sherry Thatcher, in collaboration with the RISE (Resilience, Innovation, Strategy and Ecosystems) seminar series, to present her research on intra- group conflict. This is the latest addition to our ‘Ustinov Meets…’ interview series, and we hope you watch this space for information on upcoming events.
The Ustinov Intercultural Forum will be hosting an International Music Festival during the last week of May, and there will be a variety of other GCP events taking place in June.
Formal dinners have officially restarted after a hiatus due to COVID-19 safety restrictions. The GCR organised an especially successful Castle Formal, which sold out in a matter of minutes. We now look forward to the upcoming Spring Formal they are planning, which will take place at the end of May.
We are always keen to hear from our alumni community and to welcome you to activities and events, as well as receive contributions to our termly ‘Ustinovian’ magazine or ‘Pantomath’, our scholarly journal.
Please do email us at ustinov.alumni@durham.ac.uk if you would be interested in finding out more about how you can stay engaged with College life; we look forward to hearing from you!
