Funding announcement! Ungoverned spaces: business and human rights in outer space and the deep seabed

Elisa has obtained funding from the Swiss Network of International Studies in a highly competitive process (8 applicants out of 91 were successful). The bid was led by the Centre for Human Rights, University of Zurich, and includes cooperation with the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights. It is an interdisciplinary research project on the protection of the environment and human rights in the context of outer space activities and deep-seabed mining. The reviewers commended the project for its innovative approaches to 'rethinking multilateralism' for ‘making the universe a better place’.

The two year project will run from January 2027 through to the end of December 2028.
