Frontiers of AI Lecture Series: Topology, geometry, data and the Erlangen programme for AI- Speaker: Professor Jeffrey Herschel Giansiracusa

Professor Jeffery will tell the unlikely story of how he went from a humble life in pure mathematics to co-directing a major EPSRC-funded AI research centre, the Erlangen Hub ( https://erlangenhub.ox.ac.uk/ )  This Hub focuses on the role of geometry and topology in data science and machine learning. He'll provide some highlights of how these mathematical concepts are relevant to AI, give an overview of some of the exciting things happening in the Hub, and then he will explain how he've been using topological data science to tackle some big problems in physics.
