The workshop will be held in person from noon on Monday 7 September to noon on Tuesday 8 September 2026.
The event will focus on communicating risk, uncertainty and potentially difficult messages associated with hazardous natural phenomena and their impacts. It will bring together researchers, hazard and risk specialists, resilience and emergency managers, journalists, science communicators, media professionals, social scientists and decision-makers.
The programme will combine short case-study presentations with focused group discussions and plenary discussion, supported by guiding questions circulated in advance. We hope this will provide an open and constructive setting in which participants can share experiences, challenges and practical approaches.
