Archaeological illustration in action

Led by Mark Hoyle, a renowned archaeological illustrator, each session offers expert guidance and hands-on experience with artefacts from the Museum of Archaeology’s collection. Mark brings a wealth of experience and will help you build your archaeological illustration skills, whatever your level.

At the next session, we’ll be focusing on flint artefacts. This is an opportunity to explore their shapes, textures, and details through drawing. If you would prefer to keep working on pottery, coins, or decorative horse harness fittings from the Piercebridge River Assemblage, you’re very welcome to do so, with Mark on hand to support you.

No booking required, simply drop in, pay £5 cash, and join in!

The atmosphere is informal and welcoming. There’s no pressure to create a perfect drawing or attend every session—just come along and enjoy the experience.
