Student Community Induction

At Durham, we are committed to creating a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive community where every individual feels valued and supported.

We've built a package of training and resources for our students to help us achieve this. This package is called the Student Community Induction. 

These short, online training modules can be found on Blackboard, which you will be able to access once we've set up your University IT account. You can also find resources and more information about Student Community Induction on the dedicated SharePoint page. 

We hope that together, we can create a culture of belonging.

What does the Student Community Induction training include?

• Consent Matters: Boundaries, Respect and Positive Intervention - this provides current, inclusive and scalable training on sexual consent, communication and relationships, and bystander intervention. The programme encourages good communication, clear boundaries, and mutual respect in relationships by drawing on the latest developments in culture, law, and global best practices.
• Tackling Harassment and Sexual Misconduct - this module, in addition to Consent Matters, helps empower both staff and students with the skills and knowledge to prevent, identify, and respond to harassment, misconduct, and sexual violence. 
• The Respect, Values and Behaviours - this has been developed for staff and students to provide the knowledge and skills to create a respectful environment across the university community.
