If selected to go on an exchange by Durham, the Global Opportunities Team will nominate you to the partner. After your nomination is confirmed, you will need to apply to the partner to register with them.

• 1st semester (March to July): 15 October of previous year
• 2nd semester (August to December) : 15 April of current year

Programme Information

Students should take 50 credits per semester (100 for a full year). 50 PUC credits are equivalent to 30 ECTS.

Academic Requirements/Restrictions

• The minimum required GPA for applying is 3.0 (or its equivalent).

The following course restrictions apply:

• Music: only theoretical courses available
• Medicine: only some technical courses within the areas of public health and clinical rotation. Dentistry, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Physical Therapy courses are not available for exchange students.
• Economics and Management Sciences: available only to students who fulfil the course requirements.
• Psychology courses: available only to second to fourth-year students.
• Biological Sciences: Marine Biology courses not available.
• Arts courses: Arts courses are only available to students who come from Arts-related programs.
• Architecture: applicants must attach 2 letter-size summarized portfolios in PDF format to the Dropbox folder. Courses for exchange students are limited and cannot be guaranteed. The School of Architecture reserves the right to refuse admission.
• Sports Courses: students must bring their own equipment according to the sport of their choosing.
• Performing Arts: students who are interested registering for practical courses at the school of Performing Arts must attach a personal video showing a scene and a monologue in Spanish.

Language Requirements

International students must have a good level of Spanish language ability. Students whose mother tongue is not Spanish must have B2 level (according to CEFR) of Spanish proficiency at the time of applying and provide a certificate of proficiency.

Supporting Documents Required

If selected to go on an exchange by Durham, you will need the following documents:

• Signed PDF application form.
• Official Academic Transcript.
• Nomination letter issued by the International Office of your University.
• Spanish Proficiency Certificate level B2 (DELE or SIELE). This is only required if you are not a native speaker of Spanish.
• Passport
• Colour photo (jpeg)
• Exchange students applying to take Architecture School courses need to upload a 2 letter-size pages (4 sides) portfolio to their Dropbox folders.

Accommodation

UC Chile does not have university owned or arranged accommodation however they do provide information and links to housing providers. Homestays provide an alternative option whereby you live with a local family.
