quote marks left goldWelcome to the Doctoral School at Durham University.

The Doctoral School supports and champions postgraduate researchers and the staff who work with them at every stage of their programmes. We work in close partnership with students, supervisors, academic departments and colleges, specialist support services, and external organisations to ensure a high-quality postgraduate research experience and an environment where world-leading research can thrive.

Doctoral and research master's study can be a highly independent process, but it shouldn't be isolating. The team is committed to fostering a supportive and collaborative community where postgraduate researchers can connect with each other and the wider University, develop new ideas and opportunities, access high-quality training and support, and realise their full potential as researchers, wherever their skills may take them next.

For our colleagues, the Doctoral School team is a central source of expertise and information on all aspects of postgraduate research. We provide advice and guidance, support the implementation of policy and regulations, and work collaboratively to enhance processes, services, and the research environment.

Whether you are a current or prospective postgraduate researcher, or a member of staff, we are here to work with and support you, so please get in touch.
