We know that starting University is an exciting time, and choosing where you want to live is part of that experience. Durham has a wide variety of rooms and buildings that are distinctive and well equipped.
As a new student you will be offered the chance to live in accommodation managed by your allocated College. One of the important factors to recognise is that accommodation facilities make our Colleges different from each other. Different Colleges will have different types of catered, self-catered, standard and ensuite rooms. Some will also have studio flats and others have shared rooms. Not all room types are available in all Colleges. Your College allocation will determine the room types that are available to you.
All study bedrooms come equipped with:
You will have the opportunity to provide us with preferences for room type facilities. The exact details of what room type you will be offered will be confirmed within an accommodation offer.
None of the colleges provides bedding, but a basic package is available to purchase from your College.

Durham has a number of Colleges where catering is provided to all residents during undergraduate term time. On a full catering package you will get breakfast, lunch and dinner provided seven days per week. During the academic year our catering teams provide each student with 630 meals, with multiple options and a large number of dietary requirements accommodated.
We also have Colleges with full self-catering facilities. You will have access to a shared kitchen and dining area with storage space for food. You will need to provide your own utensils and crockery. If you are allocated to a studio flat you will have your own private kitchen in your room.
Your College allocation will determine the catering options you will be able to receive.
