Everyone's History: 20 Years of the Portable Antiquities Scheme and the Treasure Act
8 November 2017 - 28 May 2018
Celebrating 20 years of the Portable Antiquities Scheme and the Treasure Act, as well as the archaeology discovered every day by the public.
20 years ago, a unique programme began. Its aim was to record archaeological artefacts found by the general public. Today, over a million objects have been recorded and many important objects and sites discovered.
This exhibition featured objects found by the public. It also highlighted some of the objects that have been acquired through the Treasure Act, including for the first time, part of a Bronze Age hoard found in County Durham.
