Join us for an engaging exploration into the world of medieval coins with Dr. Craig Barclay, Head of Museums, Gallery, and Exhibitions at Durham University. In this illuminating talk, Dr. Barclay will examine the diverse range of coins that circulated in Britain and Europe between the fall of the Roman Empire and the Italian Renaissance.

From the iconic gold Nobles to the intricate Ryals and striking Bezants, this talk will shed light on the craftsmanship, trade, and cultural influences reflected in the coins of the medieval period. It will also explore their impact on numismatics, archaeology, and our understanding of the past.
