Archaeological illustration in action
Led by Mark Hoyle, a renowned archaeological illustrator, each session offers expert guidance and hands-on experience with real artefacts from the Museum of Archaeology’s collection. Mark brings a wealth of knowledge and will help you develop your archaeological illustration skills, whatever your level.
This time, we’ll be focusing on pottery—especially Samian ware—and exploring pottery rubbings too. You can also continue working on illustrations of the Piercebridge decorative mounts or coins if you’ve started those previously. Mark will be on hand to support you throughout.
Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, it’s a great chance to learn, practise, and enjoy drawing in a relaxed setting.
No booking needed – just drop in, pay £5 in cash, and get involved!
The atmosphere is friendly and informal. There's no pressure to produce perfect drawings or attend every session—just come along when you can and enjoy the process.
