College Allocation and Access Policy
Your college allocation forms part of your offer to Durham University. Once allocated, colleges are not normally changed at a student’s request. Durham does not operate a general college transfer or change-of-preference process.
If you have questions about your allocated college, you are encouraged to contact the college directly. Colleges can provide further information about facilities, support, and the collegiate community, and many queries can be resolved at this stage.
A college reallocation will only be considered where a student has a disability or medical condition and it is assessed that their needs cannot reasonably be met within their allocated college. Students in this position should work with Disability Support, who will assess needs and advise on appropriate reasonable adjustments. Where possible, adjustments will be made within the allocated college before any reallocation is considered.
Reallocations are made solely to remove barriers to access and participation. Requests based on personal preference, lifestyle choice, or proximity to non-University locations cannot be considered.
Students with a disability or medical condition are encouraged to contact Disability Support as early as possible for advice and guidance.
