Collingwood is a place for people who get involved. Our students are ambitious, energetic and outward-looking, shaping college life in ways that are creative, collaborative and often unexpected. From art to zorbing, there are over 70 sports teams and more than 20 societies and committees to join. Whatever your interests, we support you in pursuing them and enjoying them fully.

Sport is part of our identity, but not in a narrow way. Whether you're competing at a high level, keeping fit or turning up to support your friends, our floodlit pitch, gym and fitness studio make it easy to take part and push yourself. Team Collingwood has set the standard across Durham, winning consecutive inter-collegiate sports titles for over a decade.

The arts are just as integral. Music, theatre, tech and dance thrive in professional-grade facilities, including a dedicated performing arts centre, while filmmakers, photographers and artists work in spaces designed for creativity and experimentation.

Our culture is open, energetic and unpretentious. Conversations start easily over coffee, at a match or in the middle of planning something new. Students organise, lead and create. They launch initiatives, shape college events and (occasionally) get the Principal to play guitar in their bands. Formal dinners in term-time are bold, imaginative occasions that bring the whole college together and the year culminates in a large-scale festival on Collingwood Day.

Collingwood is also a community designed to help you go further. We support students to access opportunities that matter with research internships, global experiences and funding to develop original ideas. As a fully catered college, we offer a choice of accommodation, from standard rooms with shared facilities to en-suite bedrooms, combining comfort, flexibility and convenience.
