Mark Hillery Music Studios

The Mark Hillery Music Studios are the latest addition to Collingwood’s creative arts facilities, providing a professional environment for practice, recording and production.

The Studios combine dedicated practice rooms with a state-of-the-art recording studio. The studio comprised of a spacious live room, acoustically treated vocal booth, and purpose built control room, fitted with professional-grade equipment including SSL desk and Dolby Atmos surround sound. For added flexibility, practice rooms can be linked directly to the Control Room via the building’s integrated audio network, enabling seamless recording across spaces. An additional practice room in the main college building further extends access for students. The practice rooms are all equipped with Steinway pianos and our band room hosts amps, microphones and a drum kit, all a student could need to create music individually or collaboratively.

A range of instruments and equipment is available for use, ensuring that students can experiment, rehearse and record without barriers. Together, the Studios provide a space not only to practise, but to create, collaborate and produce work of real quality.

The space is available for hire by non-members of the college via collingwood.studios@durham.ac.uk
